Partnerships Manager (NYC)

Location: New York, NY

Department: Marketing & Partnerships

Type: Full Time

Min. Experience: Experienced

DonorsChoose.org engages the public in public schools by giving people a simple, accountable, and personal way to address educational inequity. In this clip, board member Stephen Colbert tells our story.

To date, we have partnered with hundreds of companies and over 2 million everyday people to bring over $519M in books, field trips, technology, and other resources to more than 22 million students overwhelmingly from low-income communities. Our dedicated team and the informal, fast-paced, and fun culture we’ve built together is what has made this success possible.

About the Marketing & Partnerships Team

Our team raises funds for teachers and students by designing and executing philanthropic partnerships with corporations and foundations including Chevron, DICK’S Sporting Goods, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Google, SONIC Drive-In, and Staples. (Check out our partnership options and case studies.) This year, we aim to raise $55M for public school classrooms through creative, collaborative partnerships with our institutional donors.

We work closely with our colleagues across the organization to provide exceptional project management, customer service, and reporting to our partners with the goals of maximizing impact for students and teachers, driving meaningful business outcomes for our partners, and growing support for classrooms over time.

  • Own and maintain partnership records in Salesforce.com, continuously updating contact records and logging emails, calls, and meeting notes
  • Analyze and present data and stories to illustrate partners’ impact

Partnership growth (30% of role)

  • Cultivate partner relationships with a commitment to growing your portfolio of partners year over year
  • Generate creative ideas to meet additional business or impact goals for your partners

  • You enjoy making someone’s day. It could be exceeding their expectations on a business commitment. Or it might be something small, like sending them an article you read that made you think of them. You ask great questions and are a close-listener because you care what people think, and you like to learn from them.
  • You’re an inventive problem-solver. You love coming up with solutions to challenges and identifying opportunities to grow and improve.
  • You are a do-er. People always comment on how much work you can get done and how you juggle so many balls at the same time without dropping any. You take pride in managing lots of details and moving parts.
  • You are flexible, and you adapt quickly to changing priorities. You are willing to hustle when necessary and energized by both designing brand new campaigns and executing existing models with excellence.
  • You share our core values of relentlessness, user focus, flexibility, ingenuity, teamwork, and transparency, with a dash of humility and fun.
  • You have a college degree and at least 3 years of work experience. You’ve developed expertise in corporate philanthropy or sponsorship, fundraising, cause marketing, and/or business development.
